Travis Solem, Jail Administrator
Travis Solem is a Dispatcher/ Jailer for the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office. Travis has been employed with Poweshiek County since 2002 and has taken over the jail administrator duties from Deputy Steve Bruggeman.
Poweshiek County Jail is one of the oldest running jails in the state of Iowa. It can legally hold up to 6 inmates on a regular basis. If the jail population gets over 6 inmates, the inmates are transported to other county jail such as Mahaska, Jasper, Tama, or Marshall counties where the daily charge is anywhere from $55.00 to $75.00 per day, depending on the location and inmate housing requirements.
